Porter 60th anniversary
Concordia Lutheran Ministries residents Marvin and Florence Porter celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 14 with a family gathering in the Lund Care Center.
Porter married the former Florence Bergstrom on June 14, 1947, in the Natrona Heights Church of the Brethren.
The couple has three children, Marilyn Simmons of Saxonburg; Joyce Nyardy of Salem, Ohio; and Pamela Ortz of Cabot.
The Porters also have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Porter retired in 1987 after serving 40 years in the banking industry. He is a past President of the Allegheny Valley Chamber of Commerce, a member and Quartermaster of the VFW Post 894 in Natrona Heights and a member and past President of the Tarentum Area Lions Club. Marvin enjoys promoting VFW work and Naval history. A veteran of the Navy, Porter served during World War II and the Korean War, spending time in the South Atlantic and South Pacific operations.
Mrs. Porter was a homemaker. She enjoys hair styling and designing floral arrangements.
The couple belongs to the Natrona Heights Church of the Brethren.
