Richard R. McPherson Sr., 67, of Lawrence Avenue died at 9:20 a.m. Monday at his home.

Born Feb. 7, 1940, in Reynoldsville, Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Eula I. Snyder McPherson.

Mr. McPherson, a 1957 graduate of Butler High School, earned an associate degree from Butler County Community College and was an electrician at AK Steel.

He was a charter member of the Happy Hunters Club and belonged to the Masonic Lodge 694 F&AM, Caravan 14 of Butler and the Syria Shrine.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed playing golf.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Richard and Jeffrey A. McPherson, Veronica J. Bayer and Valerie J. Byrne, all of Butler, and seven grandchildren. He also is survived by three brothers, Ronald, John and Charles McPherson, all of Butler; two sisters, Connie McElhaney of Fenelton and Mary Covert of Butler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce M. Hilovsky McPherson, who died Aug. 24, 1999; a grandchild, and a brother.

North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Krajacic, pastor of the Community Alliance Church, officiating.
