Oscar W. Oertel
Oscar W. Oertel, 83, of Connoquenessing died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born July 10, 1924, in Herman, he was the son of Oscar C. and Rose Martha King Oertel.
Mr. Oertel was a punch operator for Pullman Standard for more than 20 years until its closing.
He was a member of the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church. Mr. Oertel enjoyed gardening and camping.
Mr. Oertel is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Carrie E. Kidd Oertel, who he married April 3, 1946; three sons, William A. and Darlene Oertel, Douglas W. and Linda Oertel, and Perry L. Oertel, all of Connoquenessing; a daughter-in-law, Kay A. Oertel of West Sunbury; two granddaughters, several step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Powell of Butler and Martha and Clyde Allison of Prospect; his adopted sister, Mildred and Rocco DiFonso of Jeannette, and his three dogs, Bud, Tipper and Coy.
Mr. Oertel was preceded in death by a son, Larry E. Oertel; a brother, Alfred Oertel; a sister, Betty Brown, and his adopted brother, Harold West.
