Butler County Commissioners approve contract with assistant district attorneys, public defenders

The county commissioners on Wednesday approved a four-year contract with the union representing the 11 assistant district attorneys and assistant public defenders.

The contract with the Butler County Assistant District Attorneys and Public Defenders Association includes 3.25% wage increase in each year of the contract that runs from 2024 through 2027. The union has approved the contract.

Health care premium contributions increased slightly, and are same as those paid by employee represented by the Service Employees International Union.

Staffing for newly appointed Common Pleas Court Judge Maura Palumbi’s office was addressed Wednesday by the salary board, which includes the commissioners.

Erin Fleeger transferred from the public defender’s office, where Palumbi used to work, to a full-time administrative assistant III position on Palumbi’s staff with an hourly pay rate of about $24.21, which is in the grade six pay scale. The board ratified the transfer, which took effect July 17.

The board created a full-time judicial law clerk’s position for Palumbi’s staff. The annual salary will be between $58,534 and $81,948 in the grade 11 pay scale.

A full-time court stenographer’s position was created with an hourly pay rate of $30.37.
