Knoch tennis rolls to 5-0 win

Knoch's girls tennis team won four of the five matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores in shutting out Central Valley, 5-0, Wednesday in the first round of the WPIAL Class 2A team tournament.

The match was played at Seneca Valley.

The Knights (11-1) return to action in the semifinal round Monday, facing the Ellis-South Park winner.

Moniteau won the first set, but then dropped three straight in losing a 3-1 decision to Keystone.Scores were 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, -25-16.Slippery Rock 3, Sharon 1 — Ava Lee had 24 digs for the Rockets, who won this match 13-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-16. Virginia Recchia had 17 assists while Kamiko Hargrove had five kills, Reagan Duffy three and Kiarra Baxter two.Clarion-Limestone 3, A-C Valley 0 — The Falcons fell to 7-5 with this Tuesday loss.Meah Ielase tallied six kills, Baylee Blauser seven digs and Mackenzie Parks five assists for A-C Valley, which lost by scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-12.

Slippery Rock's boys dropped a tri-meet to Grove City (15-45) and Hickory 18-41). Nick Kingerski and Cullen Birkes scored two goals each as Slippery Rock defeated Conneaut, 6-0.David Magliocca and Ethan Folmer also scored for the Rockets (10-3-2), who play at Riverside Tuesday. Connor Wallace and Josh Book combined for five saves and the shutout.
