10:49 a.m. Wednesday - David Bemben, 24, of Butler was charged with driving too fast for conditions and driving while under suspension following a crash on State Route 422 at the Mitchell Hill exit ramp in Summit Township. Police said Bemben attempted to take the exit at a high rate of speed, missing the ramp and entering the traffic island where his sports utility vehicle sheared off an exit sign. The SUV continued across the island, into the westbound ramp, through a grassy area and then went airborne off a steep grade, hitting several trees before rolling the vehicle.Police said Bemben received only minor injuries. He was placed in Butler County Prison on a probation detainer.1:30 p.m. Wednesday - Chad Blum, 22, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him on Route 8 at Benbrook Road in Center Township. He was arraigned before District Justice Joseph O'Donnell in Chicora and released on his own recognizance pending a hearing.Tuesday - Police reported $1,500 in cash and personal items were taken from a Stewart Road home in Hilliards sometime that day. Police said someone gained entry to the home by prying open the rear basement door. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 724-284-8100.3:45 p.m. Tuesday - Tammy Smyth, no age given, of Harrisville reported to police that someone forcibly entered her home and removed about $745 worth of tools, camera equipment and money. Anyone with information on this crime should call the state police at 724-284-8100.9:42 p.m. Tuesday - Joshua Phipps, 18, of Prospect lost control of his 1997 Dodge Avenger while trying to take a bend on East Butler Road in Summit Township. He went off the road and hit several trees before his vehicle rolled onto its side. He was treated for moderate injuries.7:40 p.m. Tuesday - David Gerner Jr., 17, of Pittsburgh was not injured when his car collided with a deer on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. A passenger in his car, 46-year-old Sandra Gerner, of Pittsburgh, was not injured.2:45 a.m. Tuesday - Bryan Birckbichler, 24, of Chicora and Sarah Muto, 21, of Fenelton reported they had their cellular phones stolen from them while they were at the Eat 'N Park restaurant at Clearview Mall. Together, the phones are valued at $350.Monday - Rebecca Hunt, no age given, of West Sunbury reported someone stole checks from a closed bank account and forged them and cashed them.7:30 a.m. Monday - Police reported Albert Caldwell, 62, of Butler had a Leatherman Tool stolen from his vehicle while it was parked overnight at his Saxonburg Road home.Midnight, Oct. 24 - Robert Traggiai, 56, of Cabot reported $800 in fraudulent charges were made on his Citi-Business Mastercard account from the state of California. The investigation is continuing.

2:20 p.m. Tuesday - Staci Dauer, 38, of Pittsburgh and Shane Caporali, 32, of Cabot were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and four summary traffic violations after being stopped by police for a traffic violation on Route 268 in East Franklin Township, Armstrong County. Following a brief pursuit, Dauer and Caporali were stopped by police and found to have drug paraphernalia as well as prescription drugs that did not belong to them.

6:30 a.m. Monday - David Seth, 47, of Emlenton crashed the 1995 Ford F-10 pickup truck he was driving after he failed to stop at the intersection of Big Egypt and Bredinsburg roads in Cranberry Township, Venango County. Police said he crossed both lanes of traffic and hit a utility pole. He was taken to UPMC Northwest, where he was treated and released for minor injuries. Police said he will be cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

12:10 p.m. Monday - Shirley Mason, 60, of Grove City reported someone broke into her house along Blacktown Road. Mason arrived home to find a man, described as a white male in his late 30s, 5-11 with a husky build and dark hair, going through her belongings. The man fled in a red station wagon, driven by a woman.Police said they believe the couple are involved in several other burglaries in the northern Butler County area. Anyone with information is asked to call 724-662-6162.6 a.m. Sunday - The Fredonia Waste Water Treatment Plant on Marstellar Road in Fairview Township was burglarized over the weekend. Police said someone gained entry by cutting a pad lock on the main gate. A chainsaw and a case of Blaster degreaser was taken. Also taken was 15.7 gallons of gas from the site's gasoline pumps.9:15 a.m. Sunday - A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Findley Township did not injure either driver. Police said a car driven by Paul Sparano, 32, of Uniontown collided with a truck driven by Stephen Tenkewich, 46, of Butler, as he tried to merge onto I-79 northbound from Interstate 80. Police said he lost control on the wet road causing the collision.

11:07 p.m. Tuesday - A vehicle operated by Katelyn Farney, 21, of Saxonburg crashed at Whitestown Road and Acre Avenue when she lost control as she attempted to round a curve. Farney crossed the eastbound lane and traveled onto the embankment alongside the eastbound berm. The vehicle rolled once. Farney was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the road. She was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment of head injuries. Her condition is not known.
