Tuesday — Police charged Jason T. Brendlinger, 19, of Freeport with threatening another man with a knife and rifle during an altercation May 31 at a convenience store parking lot on Route 356.The incident happened outside the Sheetz where Brendlinger and Mathew Clifford, an acquaintance from school, happened to cross paths. The suspect, while seated in a pickup truck, allegedly made an obscene gesture at Clifford.When Clifford walked over to the pickup, Brendlinger brandished a large knife and threatened to stab Clifford, according to court documents.Moments later, Brendlinger reached behind the driver's seat, grabbed the barrel of a rifle and told the alleged victim he was “going to shoot (Clifford) in the head and run him over with (the) truck,” a police affidavit said.Police charged Brendlinger, who denied the allegations, with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.Grove City PoliceSunday — A would-be thief tried to pry off the tailgate of a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup truck in the 200 block of North Broad Street. The attempted theft happened between 1:30 and 7 a.m.State Police, ButlerTuesday — Cody A. Robison, 21, of Sarver was charged with drunken driving stemming from a May 10 crash in Jefferson Township. At about 12:35 a.m., Robison lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole along Bonniebrook Road just north of Great Belt Road.Robison was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Results of a blood test at the hospital showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.188 percent, or more than twice the 0.08 percent level considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, Robison is charged with driving without insurance, driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.Monday — A vandal “keyed” a vehicle, broke off a cherry tree and damaged a garden at a home on Winfield Road in Jefferson Township. The vandalism occurred between 7 a.m. 9:15 p.m.State Police, Mercer8:10 a.m. Monday — Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Springfield Township. The wreck happened when a minivan driven by John H. Noble, 61, of Volant and a sport utility vehicle driven by Leigh A. McGuirk, 47, of New Wilmington collided at Brent Road and No. 2 Mine Road.Both drivers were taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Noble, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for a stop sign violation. McGuirk was wearing a seat belt.State Police, New CastleMonday — A tool box, 800 feet of welder leads and five 5-gallon gas cans were stolen from the bed of two trucks parked at a quarry off Trusel Road in Slippery Rick Township, Lawrence County. The property, stolen between 3 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday, is owned by J.W. Yeager Construction or Valencia.
