Joan S. Green Gumpper
Joan S. Green Gumpper, 86, of Newhaven Court, Butler, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Butler, to the late Herman Smith and Melvia Cramer Smith.
Mrs. Gumpper was a 1942 graduate of Butler High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
She owned and operated the Starr Insurance Agency in Butler for 15 years.
Joan was a lifelong member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Soroptimist Club.
Mrs. Gumpper is survived by her husband, John W. Gumpper, who she married June 4, 1999; one brother, Richard A. Smith of Gibsonia; a niece, Debra Evans of Butler, who she raised; and 32 other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roland Green, two brothers and three sisters.
<B>GUMPPER</B> — Friends of Joan S. Green Gumpper, who died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Steven Neff, Father Jack Nanz and the Rev. Dr. J. David Panther officiating.
