SR’s Shamblin off to national rodeo
SLIPPERY ROCK — Klint Shamblin, a sophomore at Slippery Rock Area High School, will be competing in the world’s largest rodeo from July 16-22 when he travels to Gilette, Wyoming, to take part in the 75th annual National High School Finals Rodeo.
Shamblin will be in the steer wrestling competition as part of the Ohio National High School rodeo team.
The NHSFR features over 1,700 contestants from 44 states, five Canadian Provinces, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand.
Christmas in July set at Lernerville
BUFFALO TWP — Christmas in July will be the theme for Fab4 racing Friday night at Lernerville Speedway. Festive decorations will adorn the facility.
On the track, AJ Flick has a 55-point lead in the Sprint division while Garrett Krummert leds Rex King Jr. by one point in the Modifieds. Tyler Dietz has a five-point lead on Michael Norris in Late Models and leads Cody Koteles by 46 points in Pro Stocks.
Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Miracle League plans big celebration
CRANBERRY TWP — The Miracle League of Southwestern Pennsylvania has provided children and adults with physical and mental disabilities a chance to play baseball for 15 years.
The organization will celebrate its achievements July 29 with an all-star game at 6:30 p.m. at the Pirates Charities Field in Graham Park. A postgame concert will follow the game.
Visiting teams from Western Pennsylvania.,West Virginia and Florida will be on hand playing exhibition games beginning at 9 a.m. that day.
BCABL sets schedule for playoff series
Butler Township and Seneca Valley will play a best-of-three series next week for the Butler County Area Baseball League championship.
Game 1 will be at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Speed-O Field. Game 2 will be at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Graham Park. Game 3, if necessary, will be played Saturday at a site and time to be determined.
Krenitsky, Brown enjoy racing success
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Somewhere Dancin’, trained by Bob Krenitsky, Jr., and owned by Julie Krenitsky, both of Butler, won a $9,000 Conditioned Pace Wednesday during harness racing action at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Elsewhere on the card, Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown guided Uptown Callie to victory against 49-1 odds in a $7,200 Conditioned Pace.
Trainer/driver Aaron Johnston of Evans City recorded a pair of wins Thursday. He guided Windy Island — which opened the year with 17 straight losses — to victory against 12-1 odds in an $8,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace. He then drove Momoni De Vie to victory in an $11,500 Conditioned Trot.
