Christmas in July event marks a first for Butler Township

Christmas is coming to town early this year, courtesy of Butler Township.

Niki Collins, the township’s executive administrative assistant, said Butler Township officials are trying to adapt to the growing number of families in the area. The Christmas in July Craft Show is one of several events the township is organizing for those families.

“We have more and more young families move into the township, and we are trying to welcome those new families and give them fun things to do,” Collins said.

Christmas in July will feature a number of crafters and vendors from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. July 22 at Preston Park. The event follows another community event organized by Butler Township, Guys Who Grill, which took place June 16 at Butler Township Park.

Collins said the vendors will have items on sale for children, but the township is also planning to provide activities for a range of ages.

“We’re also going to try to have a children’s activity area, where they can play some games,” Collins said. “We’re trying to keep it Christmas and crafty; we already have a handful of vendors, and we just announced it last week.”

Collins said the township is still accepting new vendors for the event, which will likely continue until the Monday before the event.

She also said Butler Township has plans to organize or help organize more events, in an effort to engage local residents.

“It is a little bit of a new initiative; it’s just that with COVID things kind of went downward,” Collins said. “We look forward to all the things we are going to do in the future.”

Local vendors and crafters can contact Collins at ncollins@butlertwp.org to sign up to sell at the event.
