Wayne L. Allison, 87, of Butler passed away at his home Christmas morning surrounded by his loving family and the support of Good Samaritan Hospice.

He was born May 4, 1923, in West Sunbury, the son of the late Howard Allison and the late Jessie (Christy) Allison.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific.

Wayne was a self- employed contractor.

He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, where he held various church offices and served on many committees. Wayne also was a charter member of the American Legion Post 243 of West Sunbury and was a member of the ARC of Butler for more than 50 years.

Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. He will be greatly missed and forever cherished by his family.

Surviving are his wife, Dolores “Dolly” (Boggess) Allison of Butler; a daughter, Cheryl Allison at home; two sons, Barry (Sherry) Allison of Alliance, Ohio, and Howard (Jackie Birckbichler) Allison of Butler; four granddaughters, Alysha (Sanjay) Mosby of Butler, Kristin (Derek) Contos of Ohio, Sara (Jason) Lohmier of Ohio and Apryl Allison of Ohio; a great-grandson, Ashton Wayne Mosby of Butler; two step-great-grandchildren, I'Shea and Saavon Mosby of Butler; three brothers, Aubrey Allison of Florida, Willis Allison of Grove City and Charles (Martha) Allison of Ellwood City; four sisters, Claridel Abbott of Towanda, Pa., Willa Mae Allison of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Verna Zedreck of West Sunbury and Pearl Stark of Cuba, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Allison, and his sister, Virginia Hogg.

<B>ALLISON </B>— Friends of Wayne L. Allison, who died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler, at 11 a.m. Thursday with his pastor, the Rev. Thomas Pierotti, officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County.
