Take a step back with 1940s Jeeps

Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival 2015

The Jeep History Exhibit will have visitors to the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival taking a step back in time to the 1940s.

This exhibit will feature rare Jeeps from the 1940s in honor of the Bantam Jeep's 75th birthday.

These rare Jeeps include the only re-creation of the Bantam Reconnaissance Car (BRC), the vehicle on which future Jeep models were based.

Accompanying the BRC will be these vehicles:

• 1941 Bantam BRC-40

• 1941 Willys MA

• 1941 Ford GP

• 1942 Willys MB

• 1943 Ford GPA

• 1944 Ford GPW

• 1946 Willys CJ-2A

• 1947 Willys CJ-2A fire truck

• 1947 Willys CJ-2A

• 1948 Willys CJ-2A

• 1949 Willys Overland Jeepster

“Having the pilot here for the 75th Birthday Bash, along with the Willys MA and Ford GP, is a gift for every festival attendee,” said Patti Jo Lambert, festival director.“Jeep and car enthusiasts alike will want to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see these rare Jeeps together.”She added, “It will also be fun to see the Ford GPA — a Jeep that can drive on land and also swim.”Information about these 1940s Jeeps will be displayed beside each vehicle. Some owners also will be available to answer questions about their Jeep.Six of the Jeeps are from the private collection of OMIX-ADA, which is sponsoring this exhibit.“We're looking forward to sharing this significant part of our Jeep collection at the festival,” said Al Azadi, founder and president of OMIX-ADA. “This is the first time this many Jeeps in our collection have traveled to the Northeast, and we know the attendees will appreciate seeing this incredible display.”The exhibit also provides a colorful display that details how the Jeep was born, the people involved in the creation and a timeline describing how it was built and delivered to the Army in just 49 days.A variety of historical photographs and other memorabilia also are included the display.

Bill Ringeisen of Evans City will represent 1942 during the parade Friday featuring 75 years of Jeeps for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
