Devore

Carl Joseph Devore, 75, of Butler, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 31, 1948, in Butler, the son of the late Carl J. Devore Sr. and Rose (McEliece) Devore.

Carl was an Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was an active member of First English Lutheran Church. Carl had worked in the processing department at Penn Champ and retired from the maintenance department of Butler Housing Authority. He enjoyed watching motocross, riding motorcycles and golfing. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Russell (Amber) Devore and Roy (Amy) Devore, both of Chicora; four grandchildren, Carly, Aden, Rielle and Gunner Devore; three sisters, Alice (Jack) Reeder of West Sunbury, Rosemary (Dale) Weaver of Slippery Rock and Patty L. Kriebel of Slippery Rock; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Twila Elizabeth Anita (Ray) Devore; and his parents.

DEVORE — Friends of Carl Joseph Devore, who died Sunday, July 2, 2023, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joel Benson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery with graveside military honors.
