Ernest and Val Jean Campbell of Sarver will celebrate 65 years of marriage on Friday with their family.

The former Val Jean Ross married Campbell on Sept. 16, 1940, in New Cumberland, W.Va.

They have two children, Ernest Campbell Jr. of Cabot and Jeanne Ann Osche of Sarver.

They also have five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Campbell is retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel, where he worked as an overhead crane operator. A veteran of the Navy, he served in the Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1946.

Mrs. Campbell is a homemaker.

Both are active in the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church.
