Gibson

William R. "Bill" Gibson, 45, of Butler was called home to be with the Lord at 4:50 p.m. Friday afternoon at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh from a recent diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug. 14, 1963, a son of John David Gibson Sr. and the late Lillian Irene (Olson) Gibson.

He graduated from Butler High School in the class of 1982, was the Shop Foreman at Unimach Machine Shop in Butler for four years before working for the AK Steel Plant in Butler as a Crane Operator in the Melt Shop, where he worked for the past 22 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, including the family camp "Hooty Hoo" in Cook Forest, where he held the title Sergeant of Arms. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening, but most of all his family and friends.

He was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, the R.C. Men's Club and the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club.

Surviving are his loving wife of 17 years, Barbara J. (Bauer) Gibson; three sons, Jonathan C. Gibson, Nicholas W. Gibson and Kirk A. Gibson, all at home; his father, John David Gibson Sr. of Butler; two brothers, John David (Sheri) Gibson Jr. and Thomas V. Gibson, both of Butler; two sisters, Anita L. (Alfred) Dean of Tucson, Ariz., and Cathy A. (Les) Martin of Butler and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian I. (Olson) Gibson, who died, Dec. 25, 2008.

<B>Gibson </B>— Friends of William R. "Bill" Gibson, who died Friday, June 19, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, with the Rev. Mark Carter officiating.
