Elmer (Al) Christian Graber Jr. of Slippery Rock passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 94.

Al was born on April 26, 1929. He graduated from Massanutten Military Academy and drove trucks for a few years until he found his niche as a salesman. He first sold copying machines before founding Slippery Rock Fundraising, which he said was still booking sales until very recently.

He was a member of the Shrine, Masons, NACO Caravan and Highland Presbyterian Church. He was very passionate about his service in Syria Shrine Legion of Honor, where he served as commander and, more importantly, chief cook.

He is survived by his sons, Dave (Lil) and Ken (Jan); and daughter, Janet Powell (Fred); 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Peg; and his daughter, Carol Cratty (Brian).

GRABER — A viewing for Elmer (Al) Christian Graber Jr., who died Friday, June 30, 2023, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

A funeral service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023, with a reception following in Fellowship Hall. If desired, the family also will receive guests at 10 a.m. at the church and viewing prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church.
