Freeport's Livingston 2nd in WPIBL
Freeport's Mark Livingston placed second overall in the 107-bowler field Wednesday at the WPIBL Individual Boys Championships at Mount Lebanon Lanes.
Livingston rolled a 574 series with a high game of 204. He lost by four pins, 195-191, to Thomas Jefferson's Nick Johnson in the championship match of the stepladder format.
Butler qualified two bowlers — Rocco Rice and Alex Ekas — for the regional tourney March 5. Both used strong third games to get there.
Rice rolled a 556 series, using a 234 third game to come from outside the top 40 and place 17th. Ekas had a 533 series, using a 222 in his third game to move from outside the top 40 to place 22nd.
Rice's 234 was the third highest score of the tournament.
The top 40 bowlers qualify automatically. Another 34 will be added, based on averages in the region.
The WPIBL individual girls tourney is Thursday at Mount Lebanon Lanes.
