Lawther

Margaret June Nye Lawther, daughter of the late Joseph Bert and Florence Lena Weil Nye, went to be home with her Lord Tuesday. She will be with many family and friends who awaited her arrival after a long fight with cancer.

She leaves behind her best friend, caregiver and husband, George Albert Lawther. They met building a greenhouse together and married Aug. 12, 1976, in Winchester, Va.

She had worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill for seven years; then 24 years for Murrer and Co., real estate statistical, in Pittsburgh; then back to the Ellwood City area for 10 years at the ESB Shenango office and five years at the main office as the ATM coordinator and retired April 2, 2007.

She was a past member of the Portersville-Muddy Creek Volunteer Fire Department, holding a variety of offices.

Her greatest passion was the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church, where she held many offices. She did flower arrangements for the church and weddings, was the children's ministries director and helped with music. For a number of years, she cooked for the CLC children and for different dinners.

Her other passions were helping her brother at Nye's Hillside Orchard, cooking and baking. She and George loved to have parties and decorate.

She also leaves behind sisters, Nellie V. Brown of Ellwood City and Betty J. Rinker of the Beaver Valley Rehabilitation Center and her husband, Bill Rinker of Ellwood City; brothers and sisters-in-law, M. Charles and Ellen Nye, Calvin W. and Susan Nye, Portersville, and Joseph B. and Dawn Nye, New Matamoras, Ohio.

Her extended family she loved as her own and was so proud of a niece, Lynnette and Lee Holsinger with Haley, Chippewa Township; niece, Connie and Dr. Michael Hoffer with Jason, Chicora; and nephew, Kevin and Corrie Nye, Butler; some very special cousins; and numerous members of her husband's family.

<B>LAWTHER</B> — Friends of Margaret June Nye Lawther, who died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Marshall Funeral Home</B>, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Free Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Mitchell and a friend, the Rev. Forrest States, officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to the Free Methodist Church, Ellwood City.
