Sign of the times

A storage facility on Main Street in Butler is changing its sign, and some history has been revealed underneath. The G.C. Murphy’s store in town was in operation in the 1940s, according to reports. By the 1970s, it had moved to the Butler Mall as Murphy’s Mart. The location on Main Street was also a Rite Aid pharmacy for about 20 years before becoming Lock Solid Storage. At left, Emerick Euccigrossi of Clair Boring Painting & Services works on the building’s facade Thursday.
