Armstrong County teen dies in one-vehicle crash
An Armstrong County teen was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Route 66 north.
Brandon Michael Beckett, 17 of McGrann, was pronounced dead at the scene by Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers.
According to a press release, the accident took place at 2:30 p.m. when the Suzuki sport-utility vehicle Beckett was driving veered off the road and hit an embankment.
The coroner's office said he was not wearing a seat belt and speed was likely a factor in the accident. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to head and chest. Toxicology test results will be available in several weeks.
Manor Township police and volunteer fire fighters, state police, Kittanning Township Volunteer Fire Department, West Hills Emergency Services and Kittanning No. 6 Ambulance assisted at the scene.
