Wilfred L. “Bill” Hamilton, 78, of Ellwood City, formerly of Harmony, passed away Sunday at Ellwood City Hospital.

Born July 31, 1934, in Moon Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Orphius and Blanche (Cobun) Hamilton.

Bill attended the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church in Ellwood City. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a specialist third class as a mechanic working on heavy equipment.

He enjoyed woodworking, camping, boating and cars.

For the majority of his working career, Bill was a steel worker for the Babcock and Wilcox Co. as well as American Longwall/Joy Mining.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Catheryn “Cathy” A. (Moran) Hamilton of Ellwood City, who he married on April 15, 1960; his daughter, Brenda (Hamilton) Behm and her husband, Brian, of Portersville; his son, James “Jim” Hamilton and his wife, Tammy, of Mt. Pleasant; his sister, Gloria Lowers of Ellwood City; and his three grandchildren, Joshua Shurherk and Garrett Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant and Dayna Cavey of Shaler Township.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Richard and Gerald Hamilton; and his four sisters, Helene Lutz, Edna Zuchowski, Lois Goddard and Virginia Casseday.

HAMILTON — Wilfred L. “Bill” Hamilton passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. The Hamilton family will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony with military honors will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Vic Brown officiating.
