Clay Township discusses renewing Armstrong internet service

CLAY TWP — Supervisors on Thursday, June 29, discussed renewing their subscription with Armstrong Utilities at no cost to the township.

According to a letter from Allen Hassler, general manager of Armstrong, the current cable franchise expires in May 26, 2026. Armstrong requests that the renewal process for the township be completed through informal negotiations, Hassler wrote.

Armstrong asks to be assigned as the provider for internet service in Clay Township annually, said supervisor Jeff Scott. Individual residents can access internet through other providers and are not required to sign up with Armstrong, said Dale Anderson, vice chairman.

Armstrong has provided internet coverage to Clay Township for 30 years, secretary Joann Duke said after the meeting. The coverage is not reflected in the budget because it is free, she said. She stated that the service expanded to cover the entire township in the last several years.
