Sharon city manager new chief clerk here

Scott Andrejchak
He was 1 of 32 job applicants

The city manager of Sharon is the new Butler County chief clerk.

Scott Andrejchak, 38, of Sharon, who starts in his new post May 2, will be paid $89,366.

Andrejchak, whose appointment was announced this morning, said this was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“It’s a really exciting time to be part of Butler County government,” he said.

Andrejchak, who has worked 15 years in public administration, said he would be an asset to the county.

“I really need to get into the nuts and bolts,” he said.

Andrejchak is undaunted by the county’s recent fiscal woes.

“There’s always going to be a financial challenge,” he said, referring to the constant pressure to keep government budgets balanced.

Commissioner Leslie Osche, board chairwoman, said Andrejchak was the best qualified applicant for the job.

“His financial skills were there,” Osche said.

Commissioner Kim Geyer agreed.

“He brings a financial background,” Geyer said. “That’s something vital to this key role.”

Andrejchak was one of 32 applicants for the job.

“It was a long process,” Geyer said. “It was very deliberate.”

Osche agreed.

“It was a well-vetted and good process,” she said.

During the interview process, applicants were required to give presentations on the county budget.

The commissioners were impressed with Andrejchak.

“He came back with the most accurate, best presentation,” said Commissioner Kevin Boozel.

The commissioners said they were pleased with their selection.

“We’re glad to have him,” Osche said.

Geyer concurred.

“We are looking forward to working with Scott,” Geyer said. “He brings a varied experience.”

Andrejchak has been the Sharon manager since 2011. During his tenure there, he worked in city finances and downtown revitalization.

He previously served as the Greenville borough manager.

Andrejchak has a bachelor’s degree in business and a law degree from Duquesne University.

He lives in Sharon with his wife, Elizabeth, and two daughters, ages 12 and 17 months, but plans to relocate to the county.

Andrejchak replaces interim chief clerk Jerry Patterson, who was appointed in January to replace Amy Wilson. County officials still decline to divulge the reason for Wilson’s departure. She also declined to comment.

Wilson had been chief clerk since 2012, when she succeeded the retiring Bill O’Donnell. He subsequently was elected district judge in Slippery Rock.
