The Blazing Star Choral Society will present R. Vaughn Williams' "Dona Nobis Pacem" and a selection of spirituals at 7 p.m. May 18 at First Methodist Church on McKean Street.

The concert was originally scheduled for May 4.

Williams, a British composer, combined contrasting poems from Walt Whitman's "American Civil War"; the Angus Dei from the Latin Mass; words from Old Testament prophets; and excerpts' from John Bright's famous "Angel of Death" speech.

The choral society will be under the direction of guest conductor Eric Wicks.

LYNDORA — "Thugs, Mugs and .38 Slugs," a mystery caper show, will be presented by Much Ado Entertainment and the Lyndora American Legion, on May 17 at the American Legion, 150 Legion Memorial Lane off Kohler Avenue.Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and is by reservation only. FREEPORT — Freeport Theatre Festival's 19th summer season will help celebrate Freeport's 175th anniversary with a performance of "Massey Harbison, a Historical Drama," a story about a pioneer heroine and Freeporter written and directed by Rennick Steele.Performance dates for this show are July 11 to 13, 18 to 20, and 25 to 27, as well as Aug. 1 to 3. Extra performances are offered as part of the town's anniversary celebrations the week of July 26 through Aug. 3.
