1:10 a.m. Thursday — Michael Lee Folta, 25, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a two-vehicle crash at South Duffy Road andRoute 356.The crash occurred when Folta failed to stop for a flashing red light and collided with a vehicle driven by Joseph Codispot, 50, of Butler.Two passengers in each vehicle were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries. Folta also was cited for a traffic light violation.4:30 p.m. Wednesday — Vehicles driven by Laura Bullock, 41, of Slippery Rock and Aric McCandless, 36, of Butler collided on New Castle Road at the entrance to Butler Commons. A passenger in Bullock's vehicle was treated at Butler Memoiral Hospital for unknown injuries.4:30 p.m. Wednesday — An unknown man tried to steal merchandise from the Giant Eagle at Moraine Pointe Plaza.The would-be thief, who was described as an older, white man, was pushing a shopping cart out the store when he was stopped by a store employee, who asked to see a receipt for the items in the cart.The man did not have a receipt and returned the items to the employee. He then left the store. Police are investigating the attempted theft.1:19 p.m. Wednesday — Vehicles driven by Jamie Marak, 25, of Saxonburg and Joseph Durci, 67, of Cabot collided on Route 8 near the Picklegate Crossing. Marak was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital for unspecified injuries.6:32 p.m. Tuesday — A teal and blue 1999 Acura CL was reported stolen from the parking lot at the Highfield Road baseball field. The two-door car had the Pennsylvania license plate GXJ3726.
9:50 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by John A. Richards, 49, of Cabot crashed into an embankment and rolled over at Saxonburg Boulevard and Route 228. Richards, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.2:52 p.m. Wednesday — Jeffrey McCarren, 18, of Chicora swerved his pickup to avoid two deer, went up and down an embankment and crashed into a traffic sign along Henricks Road near Morgan Lane in Center Township.10:45 a.m. Monday — Three men are accused of trying to steal scrap metal from Route 58 in Allegheny Township. Charged with attempted theft and conspiracy are Matthew J. Fazzino, 39, and Brenda L. Stewart, 45, both of Butler, and George C. Early, 38, of Hilliards.May 30 — Suspected thieves stole a 400-pound flywheel and used a thermal torch to cut apart a 1,000-gallon storage tank in woods near Parker Street in Bruin. Police said arrests are expected but they did not identify the suspects. Donald Day of Butler owns the stolen property.May 29 — A Taurus .38-caliber revolver was stolen between May 22 and 29 from the Tower Road home of Diane Mahan in Clinton Township. The gun has brown hand grips, a 2-inch barrel; and serial No. NG40966.May 13 — A thief racked up $1,840 in fraudulent purchases made over the Internet and telephone after acquiring a Prospect woman's credit card number.
May 26 — Unspecified items were stolen between April 26 and May 26 in a burglary at a Route 861 home in Madison Township.May 23 — A burglar between 7 and 10 p.m. took undisclosed property from a Bela Road home in Toby Township.
