Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company's Park Station on Route 19 will be renovated and expanded to include sleeping quarters, a gym, more office space and a large social and work area with a kitchen and day room.

CRANBERRY TWP — Supervisors awarded $2.1 million in contracts Thursday for the project to expand and renovate the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company's two fire stations.

The plan is to renovate and expand Park Station on Route 19 to include sleeping quarters, a gym, more office space and a large social and work area with a kitchen and day room. Park Station was built in 1995 and houses the fire and emergency services' three-person administrative staff.

The Haine Station just off Haine School Road will be renovated to get new flooring, lighting and other upgrades.

For general construction, Tomlyn Construction was awarded the contract for $1.3 million.

McCurley Houston Electric, based in New Castle, Lawrence County, was awarded the electrical construction contract for $269,300. Hranec Sheet Metal, based in Uniontown, Fayette County, was awarded the mechanical construction contact for $274,030.

The plumbing construction contract went to Vrabel Plumbing in West Deer Township, Allegheny County, for $240,500.

Construction could start in about a month, said Jerry Andree, township manager, once paperwork and project coordination between the contractors is complete. The work should be complete by November.
