Ronald James Freeze, 72, of Butler, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital after a long-fought battle, where he was surrounded by loved ones.

He was born July 7, 1950, in Butler, the son of the late James Elwyn and Gretchen (Brunermer) Freeze.

Ron was a 1969 graduate of Butler High School. He attended trade schools. He was a Sergeant, Aircraft Electrician in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J. Ron was a member of First United Methodist Church. He worked at Keystone Electric for 44 years. Ron had a brilliant mind, some say a photographic memory. All of his customers and contractors knew that they could call him any time as his phone was never shut off and he would deliver the products ASAP. One of his large projects every year was the Big Butler Fair, in which he took great pride. Ron was a member of the American Legion Post 778, the Buffalo Valley Sportsman Club, Italian Society of Butler, Sons and Daughters of Italy, and Butler Lodge 1664. He was an avid bowler, outdoorsman and gardener. He was in numerous golf leagues, including O'Donnells Golf League at Hiland Golf Course, where he shot a hole in one. An avid car enthusiast, he attended numerous car shows, and his favorite model was the Corvette.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Carol (Geibel) Freeze of Butler, whom he married Oct. 19, 1974; his son, Andrew Freeze of Butler; his daughter, Julie Freeze of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kroll; his sister-in-law, Joyce (Dan) Mennor of Fenelton; his brother-in-law, Gary Geibel of Butler; his two nieces, Mindi and Bethany; his nephew, Braden; and numerous lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

FREEZE — Friends of Ronald James Freeze, who died June 15, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler.

Interment and Military Honors will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa.
