Verna (“Deanie”) S. Lerch, originally from Saxonburg, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital under the care of AHN Hospice.

Born in Butler Sept. 9, 1943, Deanie was the daughter of the late Verna D. Geisler and Charles A. Lang.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Lerch.

She is survived by three daughters, Lori DeJonge (husband Bill), Angie May and Joey Gordon (husband Steve); four grandchildren, Chantelle Winkler (husband Chris), Logan DeJonge, and Carleigh and Paul May; great-grandchildren Ava, Sydney and C.J. Winkler; and sibling Vonnie Kunkle.

Deanie was a people person who never met a stranger and enjoyed getting to know her customers when she worked at the Saxonburg Bakery for many years and later as a co-owner of Up Your Attic, an antiques/gift shop in Saxonburg she owned with her daughter, Lori. She loved gardening, working on her family’s home, furniture restoration, family vacations at the ocean and above all spending time with her family.

LERCH — No service is planned currently for Verna (“Deanie”) S. Lerch, who died June 16, 2023.

Arrangements are under the direction of GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

For those inclined to donate in her name, her request was for donations be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church and School, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
