FAMILY RECIPE

— Albert Stuebgen, who was at the Stuebgen slaughter house and market, inherited the famous Stuebgen Bologna recipe brought to America by his grandfather, August Stuebgen. The recipe had been passed down to Albert's father, Julius and also to Albert's brother, Alvin. This photograph was taken on Aug. 20, 1965, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Original Stuebgen Bologna and market near Jefferson Center. According to a 1965 interview, Albert Stuebgen said the bologna legend would stop with him and his brother because none of the fourth generation members were interested in carrying on the tradition. Original Saxonburg Bologna is no longer available. However, Famous Saxonburg Bologna is made.
