MUNHALL — Roads were blocked and classes delayed because of a SWAT situation that grew out of a reported abduction.

Allegheny County police weren't releasing many details, but the incident began when a woman texted a friend to report she needed help and was possibly being abducted in Pittsburgh's South Side flats neighborhood.

Police traced a possible suspect to Munhall, where the county's SWAT team was deployed and officers blocked off some streets.

The Steel Valley School District said on its website that classes were delayed for two hours “due to a safety situation.”

PITTSBURGH — Federal prosecutors are trying to permanently seize luxury items and more than $1 million from a Pittsburgh woman who they say embezzled millions from a company.The U.S. Attorney's office said in a forfeiture action filed Wednesday that the IRS and U.S. postal inspectors have been investigating 54-year-old Cynthia Mills, a former treasury specialist at Matthews International Corp.The investigation surfaced when Matthews said in a financial report in July that a former employee was suspected of stealing millions.Prosecutors allege Mills moved embezzled funds — nearly $4 million — into different bank accounts between October 2013 and May 2015. Prosecutors say she bought a $645,000 yacht, two Mercedes and a Ford Focus with the money.

AMBRIDGE — Police have charged a couple with endangering a 5-month-old girl found dead when they ran out of gas driving her to a hospital.Ambridge police have charged 27-year-old Tariq Taylor and 21-year-old Katreona Matthews because they believe the baby died in that municipality long before the parents called 911 after running out of gas in Baden on Saturday.Autopsy results are pending, and police say more charges could be filed depending on how the child died.
