Richard Fleeger

Fleeger, younger
Fleeger

Richard (Rocky) Fleeger, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at his home in Butler.

Born Feb. 1, 1937, Rocky was the son of the late Edward Lynn and Thelma (Wise) Fleeger. He lived with the love of his life of 60 years, Janet (Link) Fleeger, in Butler. They built a beautiful life together, raising two children and attending Unionville United Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and Trustee. Richard was involved in many church functions in serving, cooking and his specialty, making homemade apple butter. He was an Army veteran, and worked on the Fleeger farm. He served 37 years at Armco Steel Plant, where he would tell everyone he worked at Armco when it was truly Armco, until his retirement in March 1993.

He is survived by his son, Robert Fleeger, and Joyce of New Castle; one daughter, Tammy (Fleeger) Steinmiller, and her husband, Daniel Steinmiller, of Petrolia; three granddaughters, Autumn Butlin and husband, Josh, Amber Kriess and Cody Stroup and Ashlyn Kriess. He is also survived by three sisters, Judy Sutton of Butler, Karen (Donald) McAfee of Butler and Joan Fleeger of Butler; four brothers, Rodney (Helen) Fleeger of West Sunbury, Eugene Fleeger of Butler, Larry (Penny) Fleeger of Butler and James Fleeger of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lynn Fleeger; mother, Thelma (Wise) Fleeger; and one brother, Jack Fleeger.

Richard was a ROCK to his family. He has left an imprint on so many hearts and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
