Hike and camp on the Glacier Ridge Trail
Moraine State Park staff will lead hikers on an 8-mile walk through the Glacier Ridge Trail Saturday, June 17, which will include an overnight stay.
The first day travelers will meet at the bicycle rental parking lot, 225 Pleasant Valley Road, Muddy Creek Township, and hike 4.5 miles across the glacier-scoured landscape to the Davis Hollow Cabin. Participants will set up camp and sleep in the cabin bunkhouse or pitch a tent outdoors, and use Dutch ovens to cook a provided dinner.
The next day, hikers will cook a provided breakfast together before hitting the trail. The second day hike will traverse 3.5-miles to the 528 Boat Launch, where park staff will shuttle hikers back to the bicycle rental.
The hike begins at 1 p.m. June 17, and costs $30, which covers dinner and breakfast. Pre-registration is required, and can be completed by visiting Moraine’s website. The program is limited to 12 participants, ages 16 and older.
