Krelow

Julie A. Krelow, 81, of Renfrew died Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Aug. 12, 1930, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Kocan) Dano Sr.

Julia was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

She was a homemaker and along with her husband had owned and operated the Beacon Hotel until 15 years ago. She also previously worked as an operator for United Telephone.

She enjoyed playing cards, casino trips, vacationing with her family, baking, cooking and canning and was famous for her dill pickles that she had made at the Beacon Hotel.

Surviving are daughter Suzette Abels and her husband, Larry Abels, and their children Kimberly, Larry and P.J. of Renfrew; two sons, John W. Krelow and his wife, Carol Ann Krelow, of Renfrew and Gregory F. Krelow and his wife, Debra Krelow, and their children, Nicklas T. III and Chandler of Renfrew; a sister-in-law, Eva Dano of Highfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicklas T. Krelow, who died Aug. 23, 1986; a son, Nicklas T. Krelow Jr., who died in 1973; five brothers, Basil, Nicholas, Frank Jr., John and the Rev. Paul Dano; and two sisters, Helen Hriso and Mary Dano.

Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 until 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. A funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Robert Oravetz, pastor, will officiate.
