Chicora woman gets prison time for link to drug ring

A28-year-old Chicora woman linked to a one-time, big-time drug ring will spend up to 1½ years in jail.

Butler County Judge William Shaffer on Tuesday sentenced Kristen Huf to 9 to 18 months in the county prison and 3 years' probation, and ordered her to pay a $1,000 fine.

Astreet-level dealer in the once $200,000-a-month cocaine-selling operation in Butler County, Huf prior to sentencing expressed remorse for getting caught up in the drug trade.

Shaffer at a November bench trial convicted Huf of being part of a corrupt organization, conspiracy to violate the corrupt organization statute and conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver cocaine.

Christopher Capozzi, a deputy state attorney general who works for the attorney general's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and prosecuted the case, was pleased with the sentence.

"It shows there's a price to be paid for committing crime,"he said.

Capozzi noted that prior to the conviction, Huf had no criminal record.
