Creasy

Rae Marlin Creasy, 85, formerly of New Castle, died Thursday at the Caring Place in Franklin.

He was raised on a farm in Berwick, where he was born Nov. 6, 1925, to Karl Creasy Sr. and Jennie (Shultz) Creasy

He married June Loretta Patterson on April 8, 1949, and they have two sons, Kyle R. Creasy of Sun City Center, Fla., and Kim L. Creasy and his wife, Betty, of Harrisville.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Creasy, David Creasy and Dawn Boldaz; and a grandson, Rae Creasy.

Surviving are his siblings, Mark Creasy, Karl Creasy Jr. and Thelma Speilman, all of Pottstown; grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle; step-grandchildren, Brian and Michael Peresie and Parker, Jordan, Abigail and Victoria Filer; and great-grandchildren, Kevin Michael and Kayla Rae.

As a young man, Rae played minor league baseball before being drafted into the war. During World War II, he served his country in the 32nd Mechanized Cavalry and drove a tank onto Cherbourg Beach on D-Day. He served in Europe through the end of the war.

He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Lodge of the Craft 433 and served as tyler of the lodge for several years.

He also served his community as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 24 years. He was a former volunteer firefighter for Neshannock Township, a past president of Neshannock Swimming Pool Association and former committee member of Neshannock Boy Scout Troop 43.

He was a member of the Shenango Presbyterian Church.

The joys in his life included his 54-year marriage to his loving wife, June, who died Sept. 11, 2003. He took much joy and pride in his family.

He was an avid bicyclist, loved golfing in the Cystic Fibrosis tournaments, working at auctions for Wayne and Karen Patterson, visiting friends at nursing homes, Penguins hockey, shoofly pie, butterscotch and chocolate malts.

Rae was known as, and will be long-remembered as, a truly gentle man.

<B>CREASY </B>— Visitation for Rae Marlin Creasy, who died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, will be at <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Amy Na of the Shenango Presbyterian Church of New Castle officiating. Following the service, a private family committal service will be held at Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington.To those who would prefer to make a contribution to any of the above organizations that Rae worked with, in lieu of flowers, Rae would say, “'that would be nice,” and his family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.
