Mark Finan
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mark Finan on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at his residence in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in his 55th year.
He is survived by his loving husband and best friend of 11 years, Mark Bystrek. He is predeceased by his father, Michael Dennis Finan; and survived by his mother, Carol Ann Finan (Pappas); brother, Michael Finan and sister-in-law, Nikki Schwadron Finan; sister, Kelly Griggs (Finan) and her partner, Joseph Studeny; and sister, Erin Dubois (Finan) and brother-in-law, Bob Dubois. He was the adored uncle to Kerry, Gabrielle, Hank, Garrett, Shelby, Bailey, Sam and Max; and cherished great-uncle to Ellie, Wilder, Asa and Charlie.
Mark lived his life as a great adventure, living in multiple cities including Anchorage, Key West, Philadelphia — and points in between — until finally settling in Toronto, Canada. He dedicated his life to the service and retail industries with his trademark charismatic style. An avid reader, Mark was a strong supporter of public libraries — in particular, the Toronto Public Library. Mark felt at home in the kitchen, and showed his love and appreciation to those closest to him through the food he prepared. After meeting his husband, Mark developed a passion for travel and visited countries all over Europe and North and Central America.
