Joseph B. John

Joseph B. John, 89, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Wed-nesday at the Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach.

Mr. John was born June 13, 1917, in Chicora and moved to Vero Beach in 1979 from Butler.

He had been a supervisor for Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Co. in Butler before his retirement, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Mr. John was a member of the St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, a member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Elks Lodge in Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Kathryn Hillwig John of Vero Beach; two daughters, Judith (Wally) Bandura and Terri (David) Profitt, both of Vero Beach; a son, David R. John of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

John, who died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, were received Thursday night at the <B>Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home</B> in Vero Beach, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and honors by the Knights of Columbus.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at the St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.Burial will follow at the mausoleum of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Ft. Pierce, Fla.Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John of the Cross Catholic Church Building Fund, 950 82nd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32966.Condolences may be sent through www.seawindsfh.com/obit.php.
