William J. Hile Sr.

Hile Sr.

William J. "Bill" Hile Sr., 73, of West Slippery Rock Road, Chicora, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home Wednesday morning.

Born Jan. 1, 1937, in Karns City, he was the son of Oliver G. and M. Grace McElravy Hile. He was Butler County's New Year's Baby in 1937 and was the winner of The Butler Eagle's Stork Derby Contest that year.

Bill attended Karns City area schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He had been employed at Penreco in Karns City for 40 years and retired as a laboratory technician in 1999.

He was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 488 in Kaylor.

Bill enjoyed the company of his family, visiting his camp along the Allegheny River in East Brady and watching football and NASCAR at his son Bill's garage in East Brady. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, sitting in his chair at the kitchen table watching television and visiting with those who would stop by.

Bill was a very tenderhearted and generous person. The last words his kids and grandkids heard him say as they were leaving his home were, "Is there anything I can do for you boys?" He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed being teased by them about his "Archie Bunkerisms."

Hile and his wife, Terri, of St. Petersburg, Clarion County; two grandsons, Trevor Michael Hile of Emlenton and Aaron William Hile of St. Petersburg; two brothers, Robert G.
