Pioneers golfer 6th at state meet
Butler graduate Nate Bilski carded an 81-79-160 Monday and Tuesday for Butler County Community College in finishing sixth overall at the PCAA state golf championship.
The 52-golfer tournament was played at Penn National Golf Club in Chambersburg.
The top 10 placers in the tournament are accorded all-state honors. Bilski has made all-state and all-conference each of the past two years for the Pioneers.
Bilski averaged 79 for 18 holes this fall.
BC3 finished fifth as a team with a score of 496, 24 strokes behind champion CCAC-North.
Travis Shingleton carded an 85-82-167 for the Pioneers to finish 15th overall. Chuck Manos had an 89-82-171 and Matt Edgar an 87-92-179.
Grove City High School graduate Gwen Oberlin recorded 16 digs to help the Slippery Rock University volleyball team to a 30-27, 30-19, 30-20 win over Clarion University Tuesday night.Anastasia Urbanik had 16 kills and Sara Kirsch added 51 assists for The Rock (22-6, 3-3).
The Slippery Rock University women's soccer outshot Indiana (Pa.) University 11-8, but fell to nationally ranked IUP 1-0.Jen McCormick had three saves for The Rock (7-4-2, 4-1-2).
The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team had its five-game winning streak snapped with a 2-0 loss to West Chester.Chris Cook stopped nine shots in goal for SRU.
