Celebrate National Trails Day at Moraine June 2
Trail-lovers can take a hike on National Trails Day with staff of Moraine State Park starting at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, on the longest trail in the United States.
Park staff will take guests on a walk on the North Country Trail, which is 4,700 miles long and stretches through eight states. The hike will take place on a small section of road, then go into the forest traversing downhill through hardwood and pine forests towards the mouth of Porters Cove, then under Route 422 Bridge to Muddy Creek Dam that creates Lake Arthur, according to Moraine State Park’s website.
The hike is considered somewhat difficult, so hikers should be in good physical shape and be prepared to traverse rocky and uneven terrain. Hikers are urged to bring water and trail snacks.
Hikers should meet at the McDanel’s Launch Area.
