Robert Kamody
Robert A. Kamody, 73, of Freeport, Armstrong County, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Tuesday, April 25, 1950, in Kittanning, the son of the late John Jr. and Frances B. (Lorence) Kamody. Bob resided most of his life in Slate Lick. Later in life, he resided in Worthington and Freeport.
Bob graduated from Freeport High School through Lenape Technical School in 1968 in auto mechanics. He worked for Dan’s Arco of Worthington for many years as an auto mechanic and manager. He also was a supervisor for what is now Armstrong Cement of Cabot. In addition, he worked in construction and roofing for many years until he became ill.
Mr. Kamody enjoyed watching old sitcoms on television and thoroughly enjoyed trivia, in which he was phenomenal. Known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, Bob’s pleasant personality remained with him through the duration of his illness. Bob loved his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, and they all loved Uncle Bob. He enjoyed hunting and processing deer. His first buck was taken with his father’s World War II rifle. Bob was a catcher for the Slate Lick Pony League. Bob enjoyed spending hours on his home base CB radio and became friends with many in the surrounding area.
Bob leaves behind his siblings, Dennis J. (Beverly) Kamody of Pittsburgh, Margie (Merdy) Christy of Freeport, and Mark A. Kamody of Harmarville; his nieces and nephews, Kelly Christy Borghol, John Kamody, Kevin Christy, Lori Kamody Bruce, Candace Kamody Welsh, David Hockenberry, Pamela Fryer, Penelope Knight, Chad Kamody and Brian Kamody, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents mentioned above, his brother, John F. Kamody, and his sister, Norma Jean Hockenberry.
KAMODY — Family and friends of Robert A. Kamody, who died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, may call from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial services at noon Saturday in DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, with the Rev. Edward R. Volz, OSP, officiating.
Committal services and burial will follow in the McVille Union Cemetery, South Buffalo Township.
