Susan Tarcha
Susan Zgibor Tarcha passed away at 1:10 p.m. Sunday in the John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 91.
Mrs. Tarcha was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Lyndora, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Danchi Zgibor.
She was a 1937 graduate of Butler High School and a 1940 alumna of the former Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
Susan began her nursing career at Butler County Memorial Hospital and then worked as a general duty nurse at the former Buhl Hospital in Sharon from 1941 to 1943. She retired in 1985 after 25 years as a professional private duty nurse.
She and her husband were charter members of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. She was a former member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lyndora.
Susan was the last surviving member of the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.
She enjoyed antiques, crocheting, word puzzles, flower gardening and traveling to visit family.
Her husband, Michael Tarcha, who she married Feb. 14, 1943, passed away Nov. 22, 2000.
Surviving are a daughter, Cathy Sue Tarcha of Girard, Ohio; four sons, Michael L. Tarcha of League City, Texas, Frank E. Tarcha and his wife Lyn, of Lenexa, Kan., Mark S. Tarcha and his wife, Cora, of Santa Clara, Calif., and Gregory P. Tarcha of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Susan was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
<B>TARCHA </B>— Calling hours for Susan Zgibor Tarcha, who died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the <B>J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory</B>, 1090 E. State St., Sharon. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with Monsignor Edward J. Zeitler, senior associate, as celebrant.
