Robert W. "Bob" Hanks, 57, of Freedom died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home.

Born July 24, 1953, in Meadville, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Dorothy F. (Fixel) Hanks.

A 1977 graduate of Duquesne University, Bob earned his degree in advertising. He was vice president of J.S. Dill Auctions in Zelienople.

Bob was an avid car collector, and he had a lifelong love of collecting antiques. Above all else, he was an animal-rights activist who rescued dogs.

He is survived by a brother, George Hanks and his wife, Terrie of Cranberry Township. He also is survived by three nephews.

<B>HANKS</B> — A celebration of life service for Robert W. "Bob" Hanks, who died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Reformed Church, 314-320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Timothy J. Sweet officiating. Everyone is to meet at the church. Interment will follow at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania, 620 Hamilton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206.Arrangements have been entrusted to <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, Zelienople.Online condolences and directions are available at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
