Albert Lacanic
Albert Joseph Lacanic, 78, of Saxonburg, entered the Kingdom of Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
Al was born in Charleroi on April 14, 1945, and was the son of the late Milan and Mary (Soltis) Lacanic.
He graduated from Monessen High School in 1962.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, Al began his career as safety manager at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen and Allenport for 27 years. He retired from Fidelity National Information Services as a call center specialist in 2007.
Al and the love of his life, Marlene E. Drescher, whom he married on Oct. 14, 1995, lived in Natrona Heights, and later moved to Saxonburg.
Al was an active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sarver.
He was an avid reader, solitaire and mahjong player, crossword puzzle solver and supporter of the Kinetic Theatre and the Pittsburgh Public Theater. Life, according to Al: “We are born, we live, we love and are loved, we laugh, we suffer, and we die. Just an ordinary guy who did ordinary things.”
Surviving are his wife of 27 years; and a nephew, Russell (Melanie) Lacanic of Florida.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Michael Lacanic.
LACANIC — Family and friends of Albert Joseph Lacanic, who died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 409 Sarver Road, Sarver, with a celebration of life service to follow with the Rev. Shawn W. Smith officiating.
Interment of the ashes will be in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of FOX FUNERAL HOME in Saxonburg.
