Grove City Speaker Series offers free presentations
The Grove City Area Historical Society will kick off its 25th anniversary activities with the first of three scheduled Speaker Series events at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at the historical society building at 111 College Ave. The events are free and open to the public.
Kristen Park, an expert in Amish societies, will discuss the beliefs and lifestyles of the Old Order Amish settlement. Park, a sociology professor at Westminster College in Lawrence County, will cover common misconceptions about the Amish and major changes that different settlements negotiate in today’s world.
Refreshments and tours of the historical society building will follow the presentation.
The all-volunteer historical society is open from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays and from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
