Former employee removes money from Vocelli’s cash register, police say
A former employee of Vocelli’s Pizza in Butler was charged with burglary after police accused her of taking hundreds of dollars from a cash resister at the business.
Danielle R. Durlin, 40, of Philipsburg, Centre County, was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft for an incident that occurred early May 6.
Police said around 5 a.m., a masked person entered the restaurant through a front door. Surveillance footage showed the person using a key to unlock the door and take $300 from a cash register as well as a few food items.
A manager told police he recognized the woman to be Durlin, a former employee who stopped showing up for shifts months ago. The manager said that she never had returned her key.
Police said they reviewed city surveillance footage and noted an orange hatchback vehicle arriving in the rear parking lot of Vocelli’s. The car then traveled onto West New Castle Street.
Durlin’s identity was confirmed using her driver’s license photo, documents showed. Police then identified the owner of the suspect vehicle, an orange Mitsubishi. The owner told officers she had loaned the car to her daughter and Durlin between May 3 and May 6.
A preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
