The FCA Gems All-Star Cheerleaders won three team championships and two individual titles at the Elite PA Cheerleading Championships at the University of Pittsburgh last weekend.

Pink Ice won the Mini Division (second grade and under), Turquoise won the Youth Division (sixth grade and under) and the Diamonds won the Senior Prep Division (11th grade and under).

Sarah Becker placed first in the Middle School division while Jenna Plutyk placed first in the Junior Youth Division and Kelsey Toy placed third in the Senior Youth division.

The FCA Gems will compete Sunday at Springdale High School.

Knoch graduate Greg Bzorek, a junior offensive tackle on the Edinboro University football team, has been named first team All-PSAC West.The 6-foot-6, 318-pound Bzorek was a second team selection last year. He helped Edinboro reach the NCAA Division II playoffs each of the past two seasons.

Butler High grad Kim Nowakowski, a member of the California (Pa.) University women's basketball team, scored 12 points and added eight rebounds in the Vulcans' 65-45 victory over Lees-McRae Friday.Nowakowski made 8 of 10 free throws and was 2-of-8 from the floor in 23 minutes of work.
