PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins' first victory over the Detroit Red Wings on NBC drew the best overnight rating for a third game of the Stanley Cup finals in six years.

Pittsburgh's 3-2 win Wednesday earned a 2.8 national rating and an 18.2 rating in Detroit, beating out the 15.9 rating for the Pistons' matchup with the Boston Celtics.

Game 5 of the NBA's Eastern Conference finals drew a 5.3 national rating.

The rating for Wednesday's game represented an 87-percent increase over last year's Game 3 between Anaheim and Ottawa.

EDINBORO— Knoch graduate Josh Bzorek, who will be a senior at Edinboro University this fall, was named to the Consensus Draft Services Division IIPreseason All-American football team.The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Bzorek has started at left tackle for the Fighting Scots the past three years. He has started 30 of 31 games in his collegiate career.

ALTOONA— St. Jude Golf Club member Sean Knapp carded a 69-70-139 Wednesday to win the West Penn Mid-Amateur at Scotch Valley Country Club.Knapp finished a stroke ahead of Artie Fink, Jr. Fellow St. Jude golfer Nathan Smith was third with a 142.

GREENVILLE— Slippery Rock University graduate Ben Mitchell, a former assistant track and field coach in the Slippery Rock School District, was named sports information director at Thiel College.
