William D. Holben
William Dean Holben, 77, of Worth Township died at 8:01 a.m. Friday at Grove City Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 20, 1929, in Chicora, he was the son of James Edward Holben and Effie Syvilla Mohney.
He retired in 1991 from the Carpenter's Union Local in New Castle, and he attended Zion Baptist Church in Worth Township.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as hunting, fishing and watching sports.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Peggy" J. Book, whom he married July 1, 1950; two daughters, Holly (and husband Mike) Lindey, and Mary Jo (and husband John) Burglund, all of Slippery Rock; a sister, Twyla (and husband Bruce) Adams of Pittsburgh; a brother, James (and wife Jean) Holben of Upper St. Clair; and four grandchildren, Michael Lindey, Rachel Milligan, and Ryan and Emma Burglund.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Jean; two brothers, John Holben, and an infant brother; and three sisters, Grace Wolfe, Pearl Moore, and Glendora Payne.
<B>HOLBEN</B> — Friends of William Dean Holben, who died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Meling of Zion Baptist Church, officiating.Interment will be at Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
