Wednesday — Police charged Mark J. Leitsch, 31, of Butler with attempting to have a fake prescription filled July 10 at the Sam's Club at Moraine Pointe Plaza. Leitsch is charged with forgery and trying to fraudulently obtain a prescription drug.6:31 p.m. Tuesday — Two women were arrested after each was caught allegedly shoplifting $250 worth of clothing items from the Kohl's store at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza.The suspects, Brooke R. Smith-Fair, 21, of Lyndora and Nicole L. Schwartz, 29, of Butler, were both arraigned on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property, Smith-Fair also is charged with defiant trespass.Following arraignment, Smith-fair and Schwartz were placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 and $1,500 bail, respectively.Wednesday — Police charged Andrew J. Ward, 38, of Butler with inappropriately touching a woman who was seated in the Butler Memorial Hospital emergency room waiting area. Hospital security moved in and called police. Ward is charged with indecent assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.
Thursday — Police cited three Grove City boys for disorderly conduct following the report of the trio joyriding in golf carts on the campus of Grove City College. One of the youths also was cited for a curfew violation.Wednesday — A 17-year old boy is charged with placing a boy, 15, in a headlock and punching him during a fight in the 300 block of West Main Street. No one was injured. The older boy was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment.
11:16 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Travis D. Ellenberger, 28, of Butler rear-ended another car on Route 8 at Wick Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Ellenberger was cited for careless driving. William J. McNeish, 27, of Butler was the other driver.10:07 p.m. Thursday — Cassie J. Woods, 24, and Ryan W. Pettit, 23, both of Butler were hurt when vehicles they were driving in opposing lanes collided on Bonniebrook Road about three-tenths of a mile south of Herman Road in Summit Township.Medical helicopters flew Woods and Pettit to different Pittsburgh hospitals with unknown injuries. Herman and East Butler volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene. Police said Woods was cited for a lane violation.9:35 p.m. Wednesday — A Petrolia man was cited for 12 traffic violations after he lost control of his car, traveled through several pine trees and struck a gazebo on Hinchberger Road just west of Simon Drive in Summit Township. The driver, 21-year-old Mogan D. Scott, fled on foot following the crash. Scott is charged with hit-and-run, failing to immediately notify police of an accident, failing to stop and give information after an accident, illegally abandoning a vehicle, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, a lane violation, driving at an unsafe speed, driving without insurance, driving without inspection, failing to notify authorities of a change of address and not wearing a seat belt.2:13 p.m. Wednesday — A 32-year-old Butler man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drugs on Route 8 at the Burger King in Butler Township.Monday — Police charged Mark E. Boyle, 24, of Butler with interfering July 21 with efforts to locate a 16-year-old runaway at a North Main Street apartment in Butler. Boyle is charged with disorderly conduct.July 23 — An unknown thief or thieves stole wallets, money and other personal items from three unlocked vehicles on Portman Road in Summit Township. The vehicles were broken into between 11 p.m. July 22 and 9 a.m. July 23.10:30 p.m. July 18 — Michelle L. McGinty, 53, of Slippery Rock lost control of her car, struck a tree and got stuck in a ditch along Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said she fled the scene before troopers got to the wreck. McGinty was cited for driving at an unsafe speed, a lane violation, illegally abandoning a vehicle and failing to immediately notify police of an accident.
